ISLAMABAD: The ECP has rejected PTI’s applications for intra-party elections.

The written decision was handed down by a three-member bench comprising Nisar Durani, Shah Muhammad Jatoi and Justice Ikramullah.

Election Commission in judgment says that while PTI had asked to stay intra-party election proceedings till detailed verdicts of Supreme Court on specific seats, the party has already suffered much delay in the matter which is not appropriate case suffer more delays. The decision said that arguments on intra-party elections will be held on September 18. Registered political parties are responsible for electing officials at the federal, political and local levels. is obliged to verify the documents from the side.

While the commission said the Election Commission is bound to look into matters before issuing a certificate to the party, its members of PTI had filed a complaint with the commission over intra-party elections.

The 3 member bench judgment held that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to see whether intra-party elections are conducted in accordance with the Act and the Party Constitution, no weight is given to the petition relating to the limits of the Commission. They also deny the application.

On the matter of return of documents and computers seized from the FIA, the ECP wrote in its decision that PTI should return its objects and documents.
