ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the National Assembly which continued till late night on Sunday and the Senate which did not take place despite changing the time 3 times yesterday for the approval of the 26th constitutional amendment has been postponed indefinitely.

In this regard, the sources say that the constitutional amendment has been delayed until the return of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif from his visit to America.

According to the sources, the constitutional amendment is likely to be presented in the parliament on the return of the prime minister. The National Assembly and Senate met yesterday to approve other amendments including the increase in the tenure of the judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts and the establishment of a new constitutional court. However, due to the objections and suggestions of Maulana Fazlur Rahman and the opposition, the constitutional amendments could not be submitted to the National Assembly for approval.

On the other hand, the time of the Senate session was also changed three times yesterday, but when the National Assembly session ended, the Senate officials came and told that the session has been postponed till tomorrow.

In this regard, the Constitutional Committee also held 4 meetings yesterday in which all the proposals were reviewed in detail, but due to not reaching any consensus, the Speaker adjourned the meeting till today Monday.

Even today, the meeting of the Senate and then the National Assembly was postponed for an indefinite period due to the lack of agreement of all the parties on the constitutional amendments.

In this regard, PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that the non-approval of the constitutional amendments by the parliament is the failure of the government, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has won on the issue of constitutional amendments, by postponing the issue of constitutional amendments for an indefinite period. is given
